My Holiday Classics Designs are Available!

Are you ready for a little holiday sewing?  I'm excited to introduce a couple of projects I designed for Quilting Treasures Fabrics using their Holiday Classics fabric line from Kensington Studio.  This first one is a wall hanging or lap quilt measuring 55 inches square.

This second design is a nice sized table runner measuring 50 inches long by 25 inches wide.  I love the traditional poinsettias and holly ~ both projects have easy to piece blocks for a quick holiday addition to your decor, or a nice gift :)

And good news ~ I have kits available for both projects!  Just click Here to hop over to my web store and get yours while supplies last.

For those of you local to me, who would like to learn some fun techniques for quilting up your projects, there is still space in our HQ Club session on November 20th where Mary Nielsen of Keep Me In Quilts will be teaching how to quilt free motion Poinsettias & Holly!  Click Here for more information on this class.

Enjoy the day!

A Couple of Days of HandiQuilter Club Fun

It's been super hot outside, and the perfect time to spend some time inside my studio. Yesterday and today I held some more HandiQuilter Club classes, and a few fellow quilters and I played and shared tips :)  Yesterday we made these cute Flower Wrist Pincushions while learning how to use a pantograph and laser light, Golden Threads Paper...

...and the ProStitcher.

Here are a couple of the finished cuties.

  And here's where I'm keeping mine :)

Today we were "Living on the Edge" and focusing on continuous line Edge to Edge designs.  I loaded up a few panels and plain fabric to play on...

...And we got lots of practice with pantographs and Groovy Boards.

Tip of the day: Use the clear Quilter's Preview Paper to lay over your paper pantograph make markings on it with a dry erase pen.

Enjoy the day!

My First HQ Club!

Yesterday I enjoyed the company of some Quilty friends while we held the first HandiQuilter Machine Quilting Club session in my studio :)  The topic for this first session was Basic Backgrounds, and each student received instructions to make one of these sampler quilts to practice their machine quilting backgrounds and fills.  These samples were made by my friend Mary Nielsen who generously shared her work with us.

Each attendee at HQ Club received these practice sheets to start their collection of machine quilting designs.  Putting meander doodle designs in sheet protectors is a great way to practice muscle memory with dry erase markers before you quilt, and to use them as reference for keeping your size consistent when quilting them out.

Dry erase boards and machine quilting books were available and everyone got to stitch on my HQ machines and play with the designs.  Some favorite designs were shared, along with many tips and lots of information from everyone.  That's what I love about when quilters get together!

Now it's time to practice, practice, practice :)

If you're local in my area, I have some more HQ Club topics and dates scheduled in the coming weeks.  You can check them out Here on my website or contact me.  All skill levels are welcome, and you don't have to own a longarm machine to attend.  We'd love to have you join us, but space is limited, so if a class you'd like to attend is full, contact me, so I know what topics you like, and I'll schedule more dates for it :)

Enjoy the day!
