Squeezing a little Garden in

I love this time of year!  Even when it's crazy busy with work and family events, I can take breaks and squeeze out some time to play in the garden.

This week in between things I've been getting some lavender harvested.  This is what's currently drying in my laundry room right now.  Some day it will be in some pretty sachets :)

Elsie and I also potted up all of these little plants this week to use as the favors/centerpiece for Heather's wedding shower that was at my house last weekend.

Surprise, surprise...yes we went with a gardening theme for the shower :)

It was a special day, and I think everyone had a wonderful time sharing best wishes with the bride-to-be :)  Now, Operation Bridal Shower is over...back to some quilting...

Enjoy the day!

Another Row is Up!

The next Row is up for the Round Robin Winter Wonderland Sew-Along!  Hop on over and check it out ~ it's a cute Row with Gift Boxes designed by Clover and Violet.  And on the Flickr Group, some of the Tree Rows that I designed are starting to appear :)

It's fun to see what everyone is making as they sew up their rows, but it's hard for me to think about a Winter Wonderland when we've had such a nice Spring here.  It's been cool, so my Spring blooms have stuck around and really made a pretty show.

Even my pansies are still going strong, usually they're about finished by now.

And the roses are all popping now too, so while you're working on your Winter Wonderland Rows...

...Don't forget to take the time to smell a rose :)

Enjoy the day!

Magic in the Garden

My Springtime garden is a magical place...Fairies have moved in!

...The magic is in how much they occupy my kiddos ~ both two and four legged :)

After school hours are spent there, digging, planting, arranging the Fairies, moving rocks, and "making roads".

...And of course watering...

...and getting more water (Butters always supervises the activity)...

...and watering ~ I think we need to shop for a tad bigger watering can :)

I love the garden in the Spring as things pop, and new gardens take form...

Enjoy the day!

It Doesn't Take Much To Make Me Smile

I was surprised to find that this little floater plant in my pond was blooming...I had no idea that it would bloom!

Just walking out and finding it shining up at me made me smile for the rest of the afternoon :)

A Fun Weekend and a Winner!

I spent most of this past weekend here.  We had beautiful weather, although the heat started rolling in yesterday, but it was still pretty.

We worked on our latest garden project.  It started earlier this Spring from these humble beginnings.  First we had cleared away the pea gravel around the front corner of the gazebo (This area had started out about 20 years ago as the bed for the kids' outdoor play set, and now it has my gazebo sitting on it).

...Then after a lot of digging, and some very particular arranging of stone,
...and arranging of plants, and some more arranging of stone,

We now have a little garden pond :)

The pond liner was my latest Freecycle indulgence this Spring.  Hubby had dug it into the ground while I was away in Paducah, and my son gave me some fish for Mother's Day, so this weekend was about adding the waterfall and rock edging...Next, maybe a little accent planting around it :)

And thank you to all for the well wishes for my 450th post.  The winner for my little Give Away was randomly chosen using Random.org today...
Happy Cottage Quilter!
I'll be sending you an email to get your address to send out your goodies!  Thank you everyone for participating, you added smiles to my weekend :)

Enjoy the day!

Tilling and Tooling on Tuesday

Spring has finally sprung here, and pots are getting filled.

Sprouts are sprouting.

Blooms are popping.

Little hidden treasures :)

 Garlic!

Yes, we will eat our spinach...

...But then we'll have Strawberries on Ice Cream!

Enjoy the day!

Bloom Whenever You Can!

It's Autumn here...

But you can't convince my hydrangea.

It just goes to show, it's never too late to bloom :)

And I Didn't Even Use Miracle Grow!

Wow, I haven't posted to my blog since last week when Abby was born!  Time has really gotten away from me this last few weeks.  Well, I'm back home now and getting settled in to the regular swing of life for the moment.  I took some time and went out into the garden today to check things out, and to my surprise my red spikey things (sorry I'm terrible with botanical names) were blooming beautifully in my center pot :)

But along with my flowers, there are some other things that are going great guns.  The Morning Glory's and some super sized grass type thing have taken over.  My little bunny is barely peaking out.

This wild mess is my tomato plant box.  I have tomatoes everywhere, and the vines are so thick, I can hardly find them all!  This is looking like a lot of work here shortly... for somebody.

And what is going on with my Hen and Chicks?  I've only been gone two weeks, and they are mutating into some strange prehistoric plants.

That super sized grass is everywhere too.  I'm tempted not to pull it up, just to see how large it will actually get!
Hopefully I'll be getting to some sewing soon, but my sewing room has some "weeding" that needs to be done in there too.  From all my comings and goings it's quite a mess right now.  I think tomorrow morning I'll take some time and try to excavate my cutting table :)  Even if it means a lot of work, I am glad to be home!

Enjoy the day!

Birdhouse Whimsy

Hershey Gardens had a fantastic display of birdhouses.  I have a thing for birdhouses, they look so peaceful in the garden, and add just a touch of whimsy ~ so I took a bunch of birdhouse pictures. I won't bore you with them all, but here are a few of our favorites.

Many of them had themes ~ how cute is this! It was Heather's favorite.

I took this little caboose picture because I knew my hubby would like this one.

This was my favorite.  It reminds me of a birdhouse that a friend just gave me that's similar to our house.

This is mine.  My best friend gave it to us for our wedding anniversary (which is tomorrow!), and right now I have it sitting on our hearth :)

And just so you know that I am working on things, I finished my second pair of knitted socks!  With traveling, I've been doing mostly handwork.  I have some knitting going, and I've been busy preparing some more hand applique to carry along.  I'm getting ready to head out again on a trip to Lisa's house to be there for her, and watch Elsie while she and Cory go to the hospital and deliver Abby.  Cory is a Marine, and we feel so blessed to have him home and not deployed for the birth of this daughter! Busy, busy exciting times :)

PS ~ Don't forget to hop on over to the Project Quilting blog and vote for Elsie's Growth Chart.  Voting ends today, and if you leave a comment, you're in the drawing for a give away!

Enjoy the day!

Little Needful Things and Planning

Not alot getting done here on Spring Water Path this weekend. I've been feeling a little under the weather ~ I didn't even make it to Civil War Sunday at the shop yesterday, or Heather's concert at church :( I seem to be feeling a little better today though, so hopefully I'll get something from my massive list done today (yes, my name is Dawn, and I'm a list maker). I did play around with some quilt blocks the other day though, so I have a little something to show you (new quilt project coming up soon using these blocks). In the meantime, I made a couple of pin cushions using them.

If you need a quick gift idea you can pick these cute little guys up in my etsy store. It's a Good Needful Thing :)

So I have tons of gardening and housework to do. Lisa's baby shower that Heather and I are hosting (at my house) is coming up in 2 weeks, and I have soooo much to do before then. I did get to lay around with my laptop and look up baby shower ideas this weekend, and really spent some quality time with my datebook (did I mention that I'm a list maker), so I think I have my life all mapped out, and executing it is all in the realm of possibility now.

I can't show you the rest of my gardens, because remember my weeding didn't happen this weekend, but I did venture out and take a picture of my Hydrangia, just in that perfect state as it's changing to blue :)

Enjoy the day!
