Pumpkin Baby Smiles

So what do I do when I take a day off from making quilts?  I go to a friend's house and make something else of course!

My sewing friends (Mary & Starlyn) and I gathered at Starlyn's house and she guided us through making her cute Pumpkin Babies.  I brought mine home and sat him up in this little wooden rocker that I have, and he waves to everyone.  Heather thinks he's kind of creepy, the guys just kind of shake their heads at me, but I can't tell you how many times this silly little thing has made me smile :)   You can see Mary's Pumpkin Baby too here on her blog

And It's not a Friday Find Day, but I wanted to share my newest fun find...This is my new notions carry along.  I love all of the zippered compartments (I'm a sucker for organizer bags).  This is a picture of mine loaded up with what I have in it right now.  I'll be carrying this little baby with me on my next trip.  It closes with magnetic snaps which is really nice, and it's a great size measuring 4" x 4 1/4" x 8 1/4" when closed, so it'll fit well in my travel bags.

I have a couple of these Quilt Happy Fold n Go Notions Boxes here in my webstore if you are in need/want :)

Enjoy the day!

Halloween is in the Air

Just like last year, I've been busy making my little Trick or Treat Totes for the kiddies.  (I have just a few of them left in the Etsy Store).  And of course I made one last year for my little grand daughter.

Well Elsie has picked out her costume this year and like a typical 3 year old, she is excited to be Tinkerbell.  Well the Orange/Black Halloween Tote that I made her last year just wouldn't coordinate right.  So this is what I did while watching football all day yesterday...

...A Tinkerbell Trick or Treat Tote!

I got the large Tink Applique from Joann's Fabrics, and the rest of the materials are just from scraps left over from other things.  A simple thing and small price for the smiles that it'll bring :)

Enjoy the day!

PS ~ If you're looking to make any last minute Halloween projects I have Halloween Charm squares and Scrap Bag available in the Etsy Store...but hurry!

Handmade Halloween

We're finally feeling a little cooler, less humid weather which can only mean that Halloween is right around the corner.  That means my Trick or Treat Totes are back in my Etsy shop!  These reusable Trick or Treat bags were very popular last year not only because they are "green", but they're just the right size for the little ones to tote around and still roomy enough for lots of goodies :)

In keeping with the handmade theme for the holiday, here are a few of the many amazing indie items that can be found on Etsy:

Cute table runner from Tracy Designs

Great country crow wall hanging from 3 Stitch Creations

Happy pinwheel table topper from QuiltedHearts5

Elegant art quilt from Terry Aske Art Quilts

Cool witch silhouette wall hanging from Cinful Art

Quilted Postcard to mail to a friend from For Quilts Sake

There are so many wonderfully unique and beautiful handmade items ~ think about shopping on Etsy and supporting handmade this holiday season :)

Enjoy the day!

Fall is in the Air as Summer Twitters Away

Ok, I finally jumped into the Twitter foray with a bunch of my friends, and am now an official Twit :) If you are on Twitter, contact/follow me here. I'm still not sure what I'm doing on Twitter, so if I make any major mistakes, please forgive my newbieness. I picked that Twitter button for my blog because the little birdie looks like how I feel trying to learn all of this new stuff...I think I need a Twitter Tutor ~ is there such a thing?

So, there's been an Autumn chill in the air here this week, school is back in session (the bus stop that meets at the end of my driveway is full of little kiddies again, after having dwindled from my children and their neighborhood companions growing up), and I've been petting fall fabrics. We just got in the Pumpkins & Spice collection designed by Whimsicals for Red Rooster in the shop. So cute, and there is a stripe in the line that will make a wonderful quick tablerunner!

I'm currently working on Harvest Moon by Pat Sloan. I have the background pieced, and I hope to get some done on the applique this weekend while I'm working at the shop. I'm adding a little wool to this one. You can also find the pattern for this quilt in Pat's Folksy Favorites book. Hopefully I'll have something to show of it next week!

I'm not attempting to make this one right now because there are only so many hours in the day, but I just love Baltimore Halloween by P3 Designs. It's just so cute and creative! This may have to go on the someday list :)

I'm sure we will be going back to some summertime weather again before Autumn is really here, but the combination of the nice crisp mornings, and working on my Trick or Treat bags has really gotten me in the Fall Holiday spirit...hmmm, I wonder if they have candy corn out in the grocery store yet...

Enjoy the day!
