Better Late Than Never

It's been deadline central around here lately. My son's college classes are winding down, so he has been frantic with assignments, I've had financial deadlines to meet for my dad, and I've been busy with meeting deadlines for publications, and the quilt shop. I made this sample for the quilt shop to have in time for the quilt show last week (And Sew It Goes was a vendor at the show). It's called Wild Rose Quilt from Pat Sloan's Quilt the Seasons Book 2.

Well, I mostly had met the deadline on this one. I had it up as a sample at the show, but most of the applique was just fused down...And today I got to stay home and sew, so I completed the blanket stitching today.

Then since I had a day with my sewing machine, I finished this one for a Mountain Baby Blanket donation. I have had this panel for quite a while. Today I simply finished the quilting on it and put some binding on.

All ready to ship! That's two finishes in one day ~ Hopefully I can be even half as productive tomorrow :)

Am I Nearly Insane?

...Oh yes, yes I am. As if I didn't have enough projects in the works, I'm starting another one! At least it's a no-deadline, non-stressful project just for me :)

Are you familiar with Nearly Insane? Nearly Insane is a book of patterns by Liz Lois, that she drafted for each of the 98 blocks from the original sampler quilt made by Salinda W. Rupp circa 1870. I've had the Nearly Insane book for a while, but now challenged by a friend who is making one along with me, and with Nursing Home time on my hands (the little 6" blocks are portable), it seems like a good time to throw this project in the mix.

I started with block #2 because it was a quick and easy one. I'm going to make mine with these great Cheddars, Turkey Reds, Poison Greens, and Yellows for that Pennsylvania Dutch look ~ mainly because I don't have any quilts made in those colors. I will be throwing in some nice Purples and Blues here and there though just to make it mine.

...And of course there are many other kindred quilter souls out there who are Nearly Insane ~ there's even a really cool Nearly Insane Blog (I know, I wasn't really surprised either). So, if you are thinking that you are Nearly Insane too, check out this blog, she has great tutorials on making each block :)

Hand Pieceing to Pass the Time

I did get to a little bit of sewing this weekend during the quilt show. To pass the time and keep my hands busy while I worked at the show, I took scraps to hand piece. I have a little project in mind for these stars, hopefully I can get to playing with that this month.

These four patches are for my Jo's Little Women Club Daffodil Hill project ~ more on that one soon.

...And I have no idea yet what I'm going to do with these little guys. I just felt like playing with hexagons ~ I don't need a reason, right?

It's Quilt Show Week!

Lots of work going on this week, but no sewing. It's Quilt Show Week!!

My guild has been all a buzz with setting up our bi-yearly show.

Pole frames have been set up all over the church building where we meet.

Small quilts are pinned up, and large quilts are hung with sleeves.

It all came together bit by bit...Yesterday we hung over 350 quilts of all shapes and sizes, and now it's time for the show! If you are in Central Maryland today through Saturday, come and check out our wonderful quilts and vendors at the Faithful Quilters Quilt Show ~ not to mention our awesome raffle quilt! More pictures tomorrow...

Another Pattern Available :)

This is my Circle Gets the Square quilt that can be cut out completely with the Accuquilt Go cutter!  Applying fusible to the back of the colored squares and then using the Go cutter makes whipping out the circles a breeze.

This quilt was made with various fabrics from the Sugar collection from Art Gallery Fabrics.

This is another colorway, on this one I used just two Moda charm packs, plus the white background fabric to make up the center.

Because it makes up so quickly it's a great child's gift quilt (or it's a really cute table topper).
The news is, that now it's a pattern! Available through Quiltwoman.com or in my etsy store :) and includes cutting instructions with and without using the Accuquilt Go cutter.
