My Hearts Content

Some of you have seen this as a quilt top hanging in the shop, but I finally have gotten it quilted and finished! This is one of my original designs called "My Hearts Content". Jean McDonald of A Touch of Class Longarm Quilting in Topeka Kansas did a wonderful job quilting this quilt for me. Yes, those are Prairie Points around the edges :)

I had designed this center applique section to use when I teach my beginning applique class it covers many techniques using easy shapes to work with. From this one section I can teach inside and outside points and curves, freezer paper on top and behind, perfect circles, reverse applique, and the back basting method with cut away applique.

Here are some close ups of Jean's quilting. (The pictures are kind of shadowey ~ I finished it late last night and took night time pictures with my Ott Light). You can click on the pictures to see them in more detail.

...and the back side.

Jean actually quilted it a while ago for me, but I just finally got the back edges finished around the prairie points last night. I have a pile of quilts to bind/finish that I'm working my way through. It's nice to have this one done :)

This picture shows the front border with Jean's quilting and my prairie points.

If you like this quilt, I have a pattern for it ~ you can purchase it here in my etsy store, or here in my ebay store. (And if you are a shop owner, email me about wholesale pricing!).

I love this quilt, it makes me smile, so it's nice to finally be able to display it!

Enjoy the day, and have a good 09/09/09!
~ Dawn
