Holiday Classics Quilt Sample!

A while back, I shared that my Holiday Classics pattern is on Quilting Treasures' website, and that I have the fabrics & quilt kits now available in my Shop ~ but I hadn't had a chance to make up a sample in these fabrics yet.

So my amazing friend Mary made this one for me to use!

And, as usual, her quilting on it is amazing too!

It makes up really quick and easy, so there's plenty of time to get one for the holidays ~ and don't forget the matching Table runner too!

Enjoy the day!

Another Rootin Tootin Version

It makes my day when someone takes one of my original patterns (like my Rootin Tootin Cowboy quilt pictured above) and makes it their own ~ and then shares photos with me!

Janell Roberts from Colorado sent me these photos of how she used the appliques from my pattern and made her version of the Rootin Tootin Cowboy quilt.  She made it for their Undersheriff who is expecting a baby.  Mother-to-be's hubby is a rancher, so she went with the cowboy theme.

Both parents-to-be are volunteer firemen, so Janell used this cuddly flannel on the back that has dalmatians and fire hydrants ~ her fabric choices are so well thought out, and just perfect ...and I need to find some of this flannel for my firefighter son :)

Janell shared with me that she has inherited over 1500 yards of fabric that she's using in the quilts she makes, which I think is so special in carrying forward our craft.  (It beautifully illustrates the value of our fabric stashes and the legacy that lives on through them.)  Thank you Janell for sharing your sweet quilt, I know it will be loved :)

Enjoy the day!

PS ~ You can go to this past Blog Post if you want that shows a different version of my Abby's Owl quilt that another quilter friend shared with me :)

My Holiday Classics Designs are Available!

Are you ready for a little holiday sewing?  I'm excited to introduce a couple of projects I designed for Quilting Treasures Fabrics using their Holiday Classics fabric line from Kensington Studio.  This first one is a wall hanging or lap quilt measuring 55 inches square.

This second design is a nice sized table runner measuring 50 inches long by 25 inches wide.  I love the traditional poinsettias and holly ~ both projects have easy to piece blocks for a quick holiday addition to your decor, or a nice gift :)

And good news ~ I have kits available for both projects!  Just click Here to hop over to my web store and get yours while supplies last.

For those of you local to me, who would like to learn some fun techniques for quilting up your projects, there is still space in our HQ Club session on November 20th where Mary Nielsen of Keep Me In Quilts will be teaching how to quilt free motion Poinsettias & Holly!  Click Here for more information on this class.

Autumn Sunset

Autumn is in the air, and this lovely quilt sample is one that my good friend Mary Nielsen of Keep Me In Quilts made from my Autumn Sunset pattern that I designed last Fall for Andover Fabrics using their Candy Corn and Black Magic fabric lines designed by Renee Nannaman.
Mary did her amazing free motion quilting all over it, including her fun Pumpkins & Spiders that she's teaching in an upcoming HandiQuilter Club on October 16th

It was a pretty day out today (even though our leaves aren't changing quite yet), so I had to take this baby outside to snap some photos.   I still think this makes a great Autumn picnic quilt :)

Take a deep breath, Autumn is in the air...ahhh ~ I just love Autumn :)

Spooky Eve!

I love October!  October brings some of my favorite things ~ candy corn, mounds of mums, fun size candy bars, and a few fun Halloween quilty projects :)  These are two projects that I designed for Quilting Treasures using their Spooky Eve fabric line designed by Pamela Bishop.  The center is the cute Trick or Treat panel with some pieced borders added to make this first one a throw sized quilt.

...And how about a quick little wall hanging/door banner to welcome the little ghouls and goblins on the Spooky Eve :)  You can get the Free Project sheet that includes instructions for both of these projects Here on Quilting Treasure's Site ~ just scroll down the page a little and click on Spooky Eve.  You can look for Spooky Eve fabrics available in quilt shops now, or do a search online if your local shop doesn't have it.  Happy October!

Spring Water Designs at Hancocks of Paducah!

I have a couple of new patterns available from Spring Water Designs!  The first one is called Up With the Roosters!  It's a fun 61" square throw ~ or couldn't you see this as a great table cover in a French Country kitchen :)

Both of these new patterns were designed with the French Connection fabric line from Fabri-Quilt fabrics

This one is called Stars Across Bed Quilt.  As the name indicates, it's a larger sized quilt measuring 70" x 88" and has a great French Provincial feel.

The exciting thing is, if you want a kit for these quilts you can get them from Hancocks of Paducah!  I was asked to design the patterns so Hancocks could kit them in their upcoming catalog.  The fabrics are just now hot off the presses, but you can pre-order kits for each quilt at these links:

Up With the Roosters Quilt Kit

Stars Across Bed Quilt Kit

As always, you can purchase the pattern alone from My Website, and if you want a Downloadable E-Pattern version, you can get them from my publisher's website at Quiltwoman.com.

Let me know if you make one up, I'd love to see it :)

This Ones a Winner ~ And a Blog Winner Too!

I got the nicest email from a friend I hadn't heard from in a long while the other day ~ Don't you love it when that happens!  Phyllis Miller sent me this picture of her adorable quilt she made with my Abby's Owl pattern for her sister's new little grand baby.  I love the colors she used, and the sashing and border fabrics are just perfect! Thanks Phyllis, you made my day :)

This was my original version of Abby's Owl, made with the Summer Song collection from Riley Blake Designs.  I love seeing quilts made up in different colorways!  Playing with colors is my favorite part of quilting.  Now I want to make this quilt again in a bunch of other colors!  If only there were about 37 hours in the day...

On another happy note, the winner of my little Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Give Away, chosen with the random number generator is Comment #24 ~ Elizabeth Kellett!

Contact me Elizabeth with your address, and I'll get your magazine out to you!

I Seem to Like Hearts on my Quilts...

Sometimes just a little heart on a block like in Shoot for the Stars is just what a quilt needs.

Sometimes I go all out with big hearts and Valentine print fabrics like on my Soft Hearts Quilt.

And I think no design can go wrong with a nice folksy heart as the centerpiece...

like on My Heart's Content :)

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

My Newest Designs Available ~ For Free!

Yes ~ Free :)  Free Project Sheets to be exact that I designed for Quilting Treasures.   The first one is made with Run Run Robot fabrics designed by Studio 8.  The pattern I designed makes a 70" x 90" finished quilt.  I love to make quilts suitable for little boys since boy quilts seem to be few and far between.

The second Project Sheet that I designed is using Summer Garden fabrics designed by Kate Knight.  This one measures 66" x 66" and is a great picnic quilt size :)

These fabrics are available in quilt shops right now (and of course stash fabrics can be used to make these quilts too).   To download the Free Project Sheets, go to Quilting Treasures' page and scroll down until you see these and click on them to download...and you may find some other nice free patterns while you're there :)

Enjoy the day!

Kansas City Debut

Just in time for summer, I've got some new patterns out!  My Madras Summer Tote pattern was made for AccuQuilt (It's very AccuQuilt Go Cutter Friendly), and now it's available as a pattern on my Website and from Quiltwoman.com :)

I was asked to design some patterns using some fabric lines for Andover Fabrics that are kicking off at Spring Quilt Market.  This is Autumn Sunset.  It features the Candy Corn & Black Magic collections designed by Renee Nanneman for Andover.

Countdown to Christmas is made with the Santa Claus is Coming to Town fabric collection designed by Marisa & Creative Thursday for Andover.  It's a cute wall hanging with 25 little pockets to fill with fun trinkets to discover each day in December right up to Christmas Day! (This one is also AccuQuilt Go compatible).

...And finally, Prairie Pinwheels was also designed using Andover's International Quilt Study Center classic fabric line called Garden Maze.  This is a large bed-size quilt easy enough for a beginning quilter to accomplish.
(Of course as with any pattern, all of these can be made with any fabrics or pieces from your stash.)

All of the patterns can be purchased from My Website, or for wholesale shop orders they can be found at Quiltwoman.com and through your distributor.

I can't be at Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City this year, but I'm happy that a few of my new designs are :)

Another Pattern!

I excited to have another new quilt pattern available here at Spring Water Designs!  This one is called Prairie Pinwheels.  It's a great large bed-sized quilt (96" x 96"), and is easy to piece for a beginning quilter.  I designed it using the Garden Maze Fabric collection from Andover Fabrics (their current International Quilt Study Center fabric line).  I love the shabby retro feel of the fabrics in this quilt, but I think it's also be cute in fresh modern fabrics too :)

Be Big!

Do you like free project sheets?  Well I'm excited to announce that my Clifford Be Big Quilt design is now available as a free project sheet on Quilting Treasures website! (Scroll about half way down the page and look for Clifford, and click on it to download the free pattern).  I was asked to make a quilt design using these fabrics from Quilting Treasures, and I came up with this happy color-block style 55" x 61" throw size quilt.  It's big enough to lay over a Twin size bed, but small enough to carry around and nap just about anywhere :)

The fabrics in this collection are really cute and bright (I love the messages), and best of all, they're available in quilt shops now!  Be Kind, Play Fair, Help Others, and...

Enjoy the Day!

Love is in the Air

Happy Valentine's Day!  Since Love is in the air, and several blogs are sharing their Valentine's theme quilts, I thought I'd show mine :)  This is called Soft Hearts (a 62"x 62" generous throw sized quilt). I made it originally for publication in Quilt Almanac 2010 and it showcases this lovely vintage feel Valentine fabric collection that was designed by Faye Burgess for Marcus Brothers fabrics...

...And now it's finally available as a pattern Here on my website!

These are the bonus coordinating pillows that I've included in the pattern with the quilt.  (Even the little fabric postcard in the heart pocket!)  The quilt's really quick and easy to make up, so I've made it in several different fabrics now, but this sweet little Valentine one is my favorite, and comes out as an accent on the guest room bed every February :)

Btw, this is my Scrappy Heart Mug Rug.  The pattern for it is available as a Free Download on my Free Patterns Page.  Just a little Valentine from me to you :)

Enjoy the day!
