Another Row is Up!

The next Row is up for the Round Robin Winter Wonderland Sew-Along!  Hop on over and check it out ~ it's a cute Row with Gift Boxes designed by Clover and Violet.  And on the Flickr Group, some of the Tree Rows that I designed are starting to appear :)

It's fun to see what everyone is making as they sew up their rows, but it's hard for me to think about a Winter Wonderland when we've had such a nice Spring here.  It's been cool, so my Spring blooms have stuck around and really made a pretty show.

Even my pansies are still going strong, usually they're about finished by now.

And the roses are all popping now too, so while you're working on your Winter Wonderland Rows...

...Don't forget to take the time to smell a rose :)

Enjoy the day!

Milltown Show Recap & One Year Ago

I spent last weekend in this space at the Milltown Quilter's Quilt Show :)  My hosts were so nice and welcoming, and I loved that my booth space was bright and sunny!  I had a wonderful time meeting new quilters, and catching up with some friends I hadn't seen since I worked at And Sew It Goes quilt shop.

Here are a few "sights & sounds" from our little quilty space...

I couldn't have done these Spring shows and events this year without all the wonderful help I got from my great hubby and kids (They're getting the hauling and set-up down to a science!), and my good friends Mary and Starlyn who helped with set up, break down and work the events with me!
Have I mentioned that I'm feeling so blessed lately :)

...On a side note, I've recently realized that my I-Photo has a 12 month setting, and I can see what I was snapping photos of a year ago (Yea, I'm a little slow with the technology sometimes).
This was a photo I took while walking around Shelbyville KY while visiting my mom this time last year.  Seeing it brought back memories and took me right back to that lovely sunny day ~ I loved the details on the old building (quilting or applique ideas maybe?)
Update: Mom is doing much better than last year when she was taking chemo to fight of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma :)

...and this is what I was working on a year ago.  It was an appreciation block for our Baltimore Applique Society president who was finishing her term in office. (Designed by Lori Smith)

...I haven't done any hand applique lately, I think I need to get going on another block, I kind of miss it, and am getting that itch!

Enjoy the day!

We Interupt this Winter for a little Caribbean Sun...

I've been away for a few weeks soaking up some sun in the Caribbean.  I did a whole lot of this...

...a bit of this...
 ...a lot of walking...

...took a lot of photos...
...but mostly I just breathed it all in :)

I'm a Cover Girl!

...Well, at least my Infinity Scarf is...And my son's girlfriend Oksana who so graciously agreed to model for me :)  It was a nice mail day today, when I got my copy of Sew-It Today in the mail, and saw that a picture of one of my projects made it to the cover (And I even took the photo!).  I was asked to make an Infinity Scarf for the premier issue of Sew-it Today magazine with these beautiful batiks, and then I was asked to take a shot at the photography...and they actually used some of my pictures :)

These are a couple of the shots that I sent.  (There were a bunch of others too)

Oksana is a sweet girl with a beautiful smile ~ I've never had one of my projects make the cover of a magazine before...and now I know that the key is to have it displayed properly :)

Here's a picture of the scarf showing the piecing and the inside fabric.

And I have another project in this magazine too ~ my Holly Lane Tablerunner is on page 22 :)  I didn't take this photo, it was sent off to the magazine to a professional (this is a scan of the page).  I love it with the props...I'm still smiling :)

A New Toy!

I got a new camera last night, and this is the first picture that I took with it!  I was shooting at night with a flash ~ yes, this is Maddie sitting next to me in my chair.  At first she thought my new toy was pretty cool...

...and then pretty soon she wasn't amused any more, and I let her go back to sleep.  We had a SLR film camera (A Canon Rebel), but for years now I've been using a little point and shoot digital camera.  So now I'm going to have fun playing with this new one (A Canon T2i) and learning what all the dials/icons mean over the next couple of weeks.  (Is there no end to new electronics to learn ~ I'm pretty sure one day my brain will officially hit overload!)

Enjoy the day!
