October UFO/WIP Wednesday All Rolled Into One Project

My UFO Challenge project for the month of October was to take my Walk in the Moonlight quilt to the next level by finishing all the blanket stitching.  (I started this quilt several years ago when I was hosting the Sloanies Club at the quilt shop where I worked, so it's also my WIP Wednesday project.)

...so this week I've been blanket stitching...

 ...and blanket stitching...

...until ~ Taa Daa!  All blanket stitching is now finished and tonight I'm piecing the backing, and putting all on the pile of "To Be Quilted" projects! (Well, one of the piles)

(The Walk in the Moonlight quilt is a Pat Sloan design, and the pattern can be found in her Learn to Applique with Pat Sloan book published by Leisure Arts.)

Check out more October UFO projects at Judy's Patchwork Times Blog. The UFO number for November is #9 ~ On my list that is to piece the blocks for the Jo Morton Warm Wishes quilt that I started a while back.  If I can fit that in this month it could be finished just in time for Christmas decorating :)

And you can check out other WIP Wednesday projects from my friends on the Quiltsy Team.  Lots of Inspiration today!

Enjoy the day!

PS ~ A little note about my Hurricane sewing on Monday.  We did lose our electric for a while, so I switched to knitting by oil lamp, but we got our power back up yesterday.  We were very lucky, our only damage from Sandy's gusts were downed tree branches that we have to pick up all over the yard.  Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and prayers that were sent our way, please keep our neighbors in your thoughts and prayers, there are so many with damage.

Practicin'

Today I was practicing quilting free hand straight lines on a quilt made from a pre-printed panel.  I'm so happy with my Tru-Stitch, it really does help ~ even when my lines go a little wobbly, the stitches are still nice and even :)  I like the open toe foot on for this kind of quilting too.  I'll show you the final outcome later...

Check out Team Quiltsy for other Works in Progress ~ What are you working on this week?

WIP Wednesday

Among other things these are on my work table right now.  I'm making these Bento Box blocks in between some of my other projects.

I'm planning on making twenty of these blocks...

Then I'm slicing them into quarters.  I'll keep one piece, and three from each block will go to the swap that I'm participating in with the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild.  Our Guild is swapping with the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild.  You can go Here to see a fantastic example of a finished Bento Box quilt that my friend Heather has made from a previous swap, and get the link to the tutorial that we're using for guidelines for the block :)

WIP Wednesday

I'm sewing in my dining room tonight.  I don't sew at the machine in the evenings often, but I've been working so much lately that I'm missing my sewing fix, so tonight is a little fun sewing for me.  I like to set up here in the dining room every now and then with one of my spare machines so I can be downstairs with everyone else and I can have a movie marathon on the big TV in the living room :)

Here is my Work in Progress this week ~ I'm making a bunch of these blocks for a swap that I'm doing with a couple of friends.  It'll be a while, but I'll show you the finished project one day :)

Enjoy the evening!

WIP Wednesday Again

So this is what's on my table right now.  I'm auditioning threads to quilt this little Jo Morton Basket quilt.  I think I'm leaning to the darker brown right now, but I'll let them sit for a while so that I can take a look whenever I walk by before I decide (Do you ever do that?).

I don't know if I'll get to any more quilting this week or not, with the annual Easter Egg Hunt at my house on Sunday afternoon, I definitely have some yard work that's calling my name!

I did get this little quilt finished yesterday, and listed in my Etsy Shop.  I also have a couple of kits left of this one on my Spring Water Designs Website (while supplies last).

I love these cute Teddies :)  I'm enjoying playing with my HQ Sweet 16 ~ I'm practicing at different stitch lengths and working on getting the stitches even.  Heaven knows I have a good supply of un-quilted tops to practice on!

What is your current Work in Progress?

Enjoy the day!

WIP Wednesday

This is my current Work In Progress.  It's my UFO Challenge project for this month (I don't know why I always wait until the end of the month to work on it?).  These are my version of the BOM Blocks that Ann from Bunny Hill Designs gave out about a year ago.

See all the pins?  Last night I basted it all together...

So today, I'm quilting away on this little quilt, while I await the arrival of my HQ Sweet 16 machine that's due to be delivered today. :)

WIP Wednesday

So it's WIP Wednesday again, and here's what's on my plate at the moment.  The Pastor at my church asked if I would make some ornaments for the Children's Easter Tree.  These are some of the symbols that she requested.  I'm fusing the shapes to Timtex stiff interfacing.

After fusing both sides, I'm machine satin stitching around the edges.  They are coming out nice and stiff, so I hope they can be used for many Easters to come :)

They all need to have their hanging cord added (I have some gold thread that I'm going to run through the shapes with a needle), and the crown is in need of a few jewels ~ don't you think?  I have an Angel ornament still to make, and then I'll take them to church this week.  I'll snap another picture to show you when they're all finished :)
