Are You Row by Row Hopping this Year?

Row by Row Experience starts today and runs through September 6th ~ You have all summer to collect Free Patterns, and make a Row Quilt...And if you enjoy a challenge, there's a contest too!  You can go to the Row by Row Experience website for all the details and to get a list of all the participating shops all over the country and Canada too :)
There are many State and regional Facebook pages too.  You can visit the Maryland/Delaware/New Jersey page for lots of Row Photos :)

The theme this year is Home Sweet Home, so since I'm born and raised in Maryland (I can walk to the house I grew up in both from my home and my shop ~ the nut here literally did not fall far from the tree), of course I had to do a Maryland themed row.  The row shown above is called "Across the Old Line" from the mountains of Western Maryland, to the farms, to Baltimore, to Annapolis, to across the Bay...
We have the free pattern available in the shop, kits with the pattern and all the fabrics to make it, and packs of pre-fused Die cut shapes for the houses.  But you have to come to the shop to get them ~ Row by Row Rules!

Our little bee made a return appearance too for the third year :)

Then I made up a second Row to choose from this year using our License Plate from last year that said "Needle Workin" and this year's plate, "Pieceful Home".  Added a little, and have a nice banner for your sewing room (and eventually mine) called "Needleworkin in my Pieceful Home".  Or it can be a nice vertical row to add into your quilt :)

Again we have kits, or the Free pattern available, and loose License Plates.  Only one Free pattern per person/per shop though so you have to choose which one you want for your Freebie ~ but can buy a kit that includes the pattern if you want both of our Rows...or buy a kit for each!

Here is a photo of our Row by Row display in the shop.  It'll change as the Summer progresses and we have more fun with it :)

Are you Row Hopping This Summer?

The Row by Row Shop Hop started on Sunday, June 21st, and is well underway!  This year the theme for the Hop is "Water", and there are shops participating from all 50 states and Canada ~ so you can hit shops in all your summer travels! Here's a sneak peek of the Spring Water Designs Row ~ We call it Water Your Row and Watch it Grow :)  

You can stop by the shop and pick up your free Row pattern from us.  And if you use it in a quilt with a total of eight different 2015 row patterns...and if you're first to bring your finished quilt in to any of the participating shops you'll win a fabric bundle... and if our shop's winner uses our row in their quilt, there will be a bonus prize as well :) You can go to the Row by Row website for all the details, a listing of all participating shops, and row quilt ideas.

Along with the free pattern, we'll be offering kits for sale for our Row, plus we have kits for this coordinating Water Your Row wall quilt :)

We also have our personalized License Plate panels available for sale for those collecting plates, and we have kits for these sweet little zipper pouches that use our plates too :)  Stop in this summer and say Hi, we'd love to meet you on your Row Hopping journeys!

Remember our little Springtime Row pattern that was available free during this Summer's Row by Row Experience shop hop?  Well now it's available as a Free Pattern Download on our website :)

 Here are a couple of different versions of our row that customers made...

This month at Fall Quilt Market they revealed that the theme of the 2015 Row by Row Experience shop hop will be Water.  I'm sure there will be plenty of really creative rows designed based on water.

...And remember our little "Just Quilt" license plate?  (We do have a couple of them still available in the shop from our last re-order) Well, we saw a sighting of our license plate at Quilt Market...

 This quilt was hanging in the Row by Row Experience booth, I don't know who made it...

...but this was the center block :)

We Have a Row By Row Winner at Spring Water Designs!

Susan Holman from Laytonsville MD is the Row by Row Grand Prize Winner at Spring Water Designs Quilting!  ~ PS: Don't you just love her Maryland flag shoes that her daughter hand painted!

That's right ~  Susan made her quilt two sided using a total of 16 rows from seven different states she visited from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

And she used our row in her quilt too, so she received a $50 SWD gift card along in addition to her Fat Quarter Bundle prize ~ She had stopped by our shop on July 2nd right after the shop hop began and picked up our row pattern and plate :)

She quilted each row separately in "Quilt as You Go" fashion, and then attached the rows together with cute little strips.  She has a great tutorial over on Her Blog on how to do this.

I loved how she incorporated the shop License Plate at the end of each row after bordering it from leftover fabrics from the row kit :)

...And she added several other personal touches to make it her own.  For this owl row from the Crazy Cousin Quilt shop, she added an extra little owl to the branch, because she is a mother of four, and all but one of her children are out on their own, but one is still home in the "nest".

I love seeing all the personal touches that quilters put into their versions of a quilt.  Susan called this quilt "Fun by Fun" and is already planning her next row quilt...after all there's the entire month of August to collect more row patterns!

Susan has graciously let us borrow her quilt and it will be hanging in our shop for a few weeks, so stop in and see all the little details up close ~ it's adorable!

...And, even if our Grand Prize Bundle is taken, we have a couple of "consolation prizes" if there are any more row quilts cookin' out there ;)

Keep it Simple...Just Quilt!

This is our motto this year at Spring Water Designs :)  We're excited to be a participating shop in the Maryland Row by Row Experience, and this is our personalized fabric license plate panel.

We've decided to "Go Green" and have used our license plate panel on the outside pocket of a re-usuable tote shopping bag.  We've made it up in a bright and happy look...

 ...and a more soft and traditional bag. 

The fun thing is, we're offering kits for each version...and if you make our tote kit and bring it in to the shop during 2014, and use it as your shopping bag, you will receive 10% off your purchase of regularly priced items!
