One of the things I love most about spending so much time in a quilt shop, is I get to see what people are working on. It never ceases to amaze me the vast variety of quilts and styles that are being created. On any given day in the shop, we are treated to a show of so many different quilts. Just this Saturday this vibrant beauty was quilted up by one of our Renters, Caroline.
At the same time, one of our monthly classes was taking place in the classroom. This one, taught by Barbara Burnham meets once a month for a year as students continue on learning the art of hand applique and work on blocks for their Baltimore Garden Quilts.
This month among other things they were learning how to hand applique "twisted ribbons".
That day was just an example of the various styles we are honored to see on a regular basis. From very bright and pieced, to soft, lovely traditional applique.
These beauties are samples that Barbara brought to her class this month. Simply Amazing :)
Enjoy the day!

A Spring Water Birthday
Does anyone remember This Post from last year?
That post was from our days as a brand new shop, and we've come a long way since then! This past Saturday, we had our Birthday Celebration to celebrate our first birthday ~ It was so exciting to see so many of our quilty friends!
In addition to our sale, we also had door prizes and a quilt drawing to say "Thanks" to our Amazing friends and supporters ~
A
big congratulations to our door prize winners - Carolyn, Janet, Valerie,
Eleanor, Rusty, and Susan. And a very big congratulations to Beth for
winning our quilt drawing!
We are so glad that we were able to share our birthday with everyone, and are looking forward to many more!
We also want to remind everyone that this coming Saturday is the third annual Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day! Make sure to stop in to say "Hi" and to see what sales and goodies we have going on!
Enjoy the day!

Back to Work After a Little R&R...
We just got back from spending an amazing week in the Smoky Mountains. This was our cozy cabin in the woods that I'm now totally in love with. (Note the Bernina sitting on the table inside ~ it was the perfect balance of getting out and about, and also staying in and getting some fun personal sewing done!)
This was my sewing buddy for the week. He smiled down on me as I sewed away and watched T.V. Together we put together some more Farmer's Wife blocks for the group swap I'm in, and of course we got more sewing in on the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt :)
...and just breathe.
And we got some hiking and exploring in around Cades Cove. Simply beautiful :)
It was the perfect time to visit Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg TN ~ The weather cooperated, and we were able to drive through the mountains without icy roads, got all our Christmas Shopping finished in the towns decorated for their Winterfest Celebration (even went to a few quilt shops along the way), and enjoyed the National Park and Crafter's Community with very few tourists. We're back home now, thankful, refreshed, and ready to take on 2015 :)
Enjoy the day!

The Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt Kicked off Today!
Here are some "sights and sounds" from our Sew In Day for the kick off of the first Clue of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt she's calling the Grand Illusion Mystery ~ These are the sights anyway, the sounds were of laughter and good conversation :)
Quilters gathered and played with fabrics, cut, and stitched on the units for the first clue...
...and I got one of my Broken Dishes units finished ~ only 99 more to go :)
We'll be working on our units this week (Heather even caught the bug and is picking out fabrics to join in and play), and then next Friday, Dec 5th Bonnie will release the clue for Part 2 on her blog. That's our regular Studio Stitch-In Day at the shop, so come and sew with us!
Enjoy the day!
